Lost worlds and ports of call

Out Stealing Horses

A Norwegian writer wins one of the richest literary prizes available, for the translation of his 2003 novel. I happen to have the Norwegian version right next to me. Admittedly it was third in line of the Norwegian books on my list to read (my small library is augmented once or twice a year), but it sounds enticing enough to bump it up to next in line.

Ah, another reader of foreign lit. I’m going to Germany this summer to augment my growing collection of lit and mysteries. Not to mention getting CD’s I can’t get on iTunes.htt

I have a handful of French books as well, and I can’t understand why we can’t buy songs in the US store on iTunes that are available only in some of the Euro stores. Some day it all will merge, but until then it’s still fun to combine a trip overseas with buying those items. Otherwise we’d just be tourists, right?
