I have been developing FileMaker databases since 1994, starting with version 2.1. In 1995 I joined Apple Computer, and wrote several databases for various departments, from simple data entry to more complex solutions that used AppleScript to interact with application like SAP. I moved away from FileMaker databases shortly after version 7 came out, as I started working with MySQL and PHP. I missed versions 8 and 8.5 altogether, aside from downloading a copy and seeing what had changed.
In 2007 I returned to FileMaker development, picking up again with version 9. I liked the fact that PHP now worked with FileMaker using a native API, though I learned that the FX.php class had been around a while longer and worked just as well. In 2008 I became an authorized FileMaker Pro 9 developer and certified trainer.
With the release of FileMaker Pro 10 in January 2009, this application keeps gaining superb toolsets. FMP is a rapid application development nirvana, and so much changed between version 7 and 9 that I hardly recognized the program. With the GUI makeover in version 10 it's an even sweeter app. I continue to learn and develop new insights with every application and solution I build, and am amazed at the knowledge out there among other FileMaker developers.
